I'm 16 years old and last year I lost my dear mum who had battled mental ill health for too long. She had been the best mum I could have wished for but struggled with depression and anxiety until she passed away last September, aged just 47.

I want to make a difference in mum's memory by skydiving from 4,000 metres (13,125 feet) above Empuriabrava, Spain.

Mental health issues are far too common in Jersey and elsewhere and by raising funds for Mind Jersey who work so hard to help those suffering from mental ill health, I want to do my bit to help. Too many parents, children and friends are suffering and losing their lives as a result, and need all the help they can get. I also want to raise awareness of the illness and to reduce the stigma around it by talking openly and honestly - there is nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed about - one in four adults will experience mental ill health at some point in their lives - it could be anyone's mum, dad, brother, sister or best friend.
