Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

This page has been created in memory of Jim Brooks. An associate of Oxford Architects and a very valued colleague and friend, Jim passed away suddenly last December from an unknown condition related to diabetes. Sophie and Barney, who were Jim's work colleagues, are doing the Bristol Harbourside Triathlon on 11 June in his memory and all funds raised will go to the Medical Detection Dogs Charity.

Jim's mum and dad selected this charity and we hope to raise as much money as possible to cover the cost of a Medical Alert Assistance Dog for a child. It costs £13,000 to train one + on-going yearly costs of £750. With their amazing sense of smell these dogs are trained to detect minute changes in blood sugar levels and other hormone-related odour changes. When these levels fall or rise outside the normal range, the dogs will warn their owner, get help and fetch any vital medical supplies.

Further details of the triathlon can be found at
