As many of you know, Maya passed away on the 2nd of August 2012, from meningococcal septicaemia, a form of bacterial Meningitis.This is our latest fund raising event in Maya's Memory - a trip to Benidorm in a old banger! More details of the Rally can be found by searching Benidorm or bust on Facebook or Google. There will be 2 cars taking part for Team Maya. A Ford Mondeo 1998 which will be driven by Maya's Grandad, Chris Whiteman and family friend Pete Wood. If this car makes it to Benidorm, Chris and Pete have decided to drive the car back to the UK so it can be raced by myself, Paul Whiteman in a Banger Racing event at the Arena Essex Raceway on 2nd August 15. This event will also be a fund raising day in Maya's memory. The other vehicle is a 1997 Mercedes E class. This 'banger' will be driven by Maya's great Uncle's Dennis and Bryan Whiteman with cheif map reader and family friend Kevin Moulton in attendance.
It was such a shock how quickly this disease took effect. So that is why it is so important to spread awareness and raise money to help the meningitis research foundation, so hopefully they can move forward in trying to find a cure or prevention so other families dont have to endure the same pain and heartbreak that we are going through.
