Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am attempting to cycle solo and unsupported from John O'Groats in Scotland to Land's End in Cornwall in six days, a cumulative distance of 1470km at a daily average of 245km.
I am riding to raise money for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation and in memory of Alisha Douglas née Barnett, one of Kate’s and my best friends, who passed away in February of this year having been diagnosed with lung cancer in December 2014. As many of you know Alisha was to be one of Kate’s bridesmaids at our wedding later this year and this is just the sort of adventure of which she would have approved.
Inspirational is a much over-used word but it is entirely appropriate to describe Alisha. She was unflaggingly positive in the face of her illness and remained active and fit to the very last. She took part in numerous triathlons, the UK three peaks challenge, the Prudential 100 cycle ride and was preparing to take part in the 2016 London Marathon and was determined to complete it despite her illness - http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/woman-28-diagnosed-with-rare-lung-cancer-announces-she-will-run-london-marathon-next-year-a3134926.html
Lung cancer is the most common cancer in the world, killing more people than prostate, bowel and breast cancer combined. The Roy Castle Lung Cancer
Foundation, as the UK's only lung cancer charity, is unique. Its focus is to save lives and provide help to those affected by lung cancer. They invest in
research all over the country, looking for ways to prevent the disease and improve treatment and care. They are dedicated to offering help to those in need and hope for the future and their work makes a real difference to people affected and their families.
I would be hugely grateful, as will the charity, if you could sponsor to enable them to continue their vital work.
Many thanks
Patric
