Story
Since 1987, I have been part of All Together in Dignity / ATD Fourth World because of the way this movement connects with people who might feel like giving up on life to find a way together to build a community where everyone's dignity is respected.
I am launching this fundraising campaign today on my birthday because I was born the same year that ATD Fourth World was founded. In 1997, Bruno Tardieu and I raised money for ATD on our birthdays by hiking together for 95 miles. We walked from the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia to the commemorative stone at the United Nations. During this pandemic of course I will stay closer to home, safely masked. But by counting my steps on daily walks, my goal is to reach a total of 389 miles. That's the distance from my home in ATD's London centre in Addington Square to George Square in Glasgow where last year ATD unveiled a new commemorative stone: https://atd-uk.org/2019/10/04/world-day-for-overcoming-poverty-17th-october/
