Well I did it!!  The photo above (with my son Sam) was taken with about a mile to go.  What an amazing day, absolutely exhausting, in so many ways, but an incredible experience. 

Huge thanks to everyone who donated to this and Sam's JustGiving page, you have surpassed all our expectations and I know that every penny of your support will make a big difference to children and young people who stammer.

If you were one of the many wonderful people who shouted and waved as I ran (and sometimes walked) past, you really helped make the day and gave me the strength and determination to finish - thank you again!

I am running the London Marathon for Action for Stammering Children (ASC). This is my first ever marathon and I'm both excited and somewhat terrified.  I can manage a 5k Parkrun now with a degree of confidence but 42k is .......... a long, long way!

ASC helps children, young people and their families gain access to some very special, expert services that truly transform their lives. I have worked for the charity for over three years and have seen many moving examples of quite dramatic change, of children finding their voice and often finding themselves. With three children of my own, I know how vital it is that a child develops the self confidence to participate and communicate in their education, in their social lives -  even more so as they move into the adult world.

Whilst I am quite daunted at the prospect of running for 26.2 miles, I am really looking forward to the incredible physical and mental challenge.  If you would like to support me you will be helping ASC to continue to make such an important impact on the lives of hundreds of children and young people.
