Richmond Virginia · 12 November 2011

Since 1956, experienced HCPT volunteers have taken 1,000s of disabled and disadvantaged children and adults on life changing pilgrimage holidays to the shrine of Lourdes in France. We are of all faiths and none. Thank you for your support.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Update: I "up'd" the challenge to doing 2 marathons in 2 weeks. I finished the Marine Corps Marathon just under 2 weeks ago with a time of 4 hours and 11 minutes then did the Richmond Marathon today in a time of 3 hours and 58 minutes. I did both marathons with a friend in the US Navy (Captain Jim Lowther) so it was a joint US / UK effort. Thank you for everybody's support. I'll get some photos up soon of my first 2 (and last!) marathons.

I'm running in my first ever marathon on 12 November 2011 in Richmond, Virginia. Having now completed 22 miles in a training run, I think there is there is a realistic prospect of me getting to the start line at least. I am also trying to use the marathon as an opportunity to raise some money for the Handicapped Children's Pilgramage Trust (HCPT), and Group 201 in Southampton in particular.

Each year more than 7000 children, volunteer helpers and adults from around the world travel to Lourdes in France with HCPT, providing a week of support at no cost to over 2000 children with disabilities. One of my sons, Isaac (1997-2007), benefitted from a week with the Southampton group (201) in 2007.
