Thank you for visiting this page. I am running in the 2016 London BUPA 10 k event which is a first for me, and a great opportunity for me to raise money for Parkinson's UK. I am enjoying the training and excited about participating and fundraising for such a good cause.
Although I have spent many hectic years working as a physician in central London, I hadn't quite appreciated how devastating a diagnosis Parkinson's disease can be for patients and families. I guess you never really do until a disease affects you personally. When my father, Alan (a retired physician) developed the disease just over a year ago, it had a terrible impact on his life, and hugely affected our family. We are still getting used to living with the diagnosis and find ways to help my dad (and mum) to enjoy life. In so many ways my wonderful father inspired me to get up and do something that may just contribute in some small way to help patients and families living with Parkinson's disease.
So, to family, friends, colleagues, and patients, please do support me.
With thanks and warmest wishes - Paul
