We provide bereavement support to parents & children in the West Midlands

Story

Drumming started for me at the age of twelve. I was always tapping as a child so my father got me some drum sticks from the drummer of his band. After knocking hell out of the furniture, my parents decided to buy me my first premier drum kit.

I started having drum lessons at the age of 15 and ended up playing in a 16 piece orchestra at the De Montfort Hall in Leicester. I have played in numerous bands over the years including a Rush tribute band called yyz and currently a rock cover band; 51 Stone.

Drumming has always been my life and until I can no longer grip the sticks, I will continue to play. However, now 57, I struggle with back pain, tiredness and swelling in my hands and fingers after playing for a few hours in my bands.

Recent events has made me re-evaluate life and realise how it can be taken away from us at anytime. Many parents who have lost their children, and many children who have lost their parents at a young age greatly benefit from a range of support. Edwards Trust offer a range of support services to bereaved families and children. This wonderful charity is based in Birmingham.

I have decided to challenge myself physically and mentally like never before. I will be playing the drums for 24 hours without sleep. I will have 5 minutes every hour to take on food, drink and a toilet break. As you can appreciate, to succeed in this challenge, I am going to be training 6 days a week at the gym; cut out alcohol; follow a strict nutritional eating plan and practise, practise, practise.

This event will be taking place at Second City 834 Kingstanding Road, Birmingham on Friday 8th April. The Legendary Steve Gibbon's band will be accompanying me on the Friday night. There will be advertising space for companies and local businesses who wish to advertise their company as a fee.Any donations of any kind,  from local businesses to help raise funds would be greatly appreciated. There will be advertising space all over the venue for companies

There will be TV coverage by Big Centre Tv which is based in the Midlands. Also a local radio will be there alongside local newspapers. We will be doing auctions and raffles. Book it in you diaries guys as its going to be a phenomenal and exhausting event.
