Story
I have now successfully completed both races. Following the Great North Run my next challenge was the full marathon distance of 26.2 miles in Bournemouth on Sunday 6 October. This was the first running of the race and the weather was amazing with blue skies and no wind, the route took in the neighbouring towns of Christchurch and Poole as well as a stretch along the promenade to the finish next to Bournemouth Pier. At 20 miles I thought I was on for a new personal best time however after a gruelling section which included a steep incline, then descent, I was delighted to finish in 2 hours 41 minutes and 34 seconds, my second fastest marathon time. I was 11 overall, 9 male and again 1 Male Veteran 45, getting old has some benefits!
The charity are absolutely delighted with the amount raised and have been very supportive in the run up to both events. As you know this is a charity that I wanted to create awareness for in an effort to help fund their research towards this terrible disease, with your sponsorship you have helped me achieve this.
