Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page

Us two, Steve and Jason, will be taking on the HUGE challenge of The Marathon Des Sables

The Marathon Des Sables is a six-day ‘ultra-marathon’ or ‘ultra’ run over 150 to 156 miles (254 kms). But it’s not just the distance that makes it the toughest footrace on the planet.

The terrain is harsh – The heat is intense –  We will carry our packs, but bed down in communal tents each night.

Each stage will present a fresh challenge, with the longest in 2017 stretching a brutal 53.5 miles (86.2 kms). The route and format shift each year, but typical distances for each day are:

Day 1    30.3KM

Day 2    39KM

Day 3    31.6KM

Day 4    86.2KM

Day 5    42.2KM

Day 6    7.7KM

We are raising funds for our Charity, The Paul Lavelle Foundation, to help support it's continued growth.  This year will not only see the up scale of our 1:1 male domestic abuse therapeutic support service but we are soon to be delivering recovery programmes working with young people who have been subjected to domestic abuse in the family environment.  We are also expanding on the work with do in schools and colleges with our Healthy Relationship Education workshops.

In addition to raising funds for The PLF we also want to give back to local charities too.  With this event we want to support Alder Hey Children's Hospital Charity who do amazing work for the Hospital.   Donations help to fund life-saving equipment, vital research and healthcare innovation.  It also ensures that every child and young person experiences Alder Hey magic – those little added extras that make the hospital experience the best it can be for patients and their families.

Massive thanks to all who support us and donate, it's much appreciated!
