Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As visitors to this page may know, I am the editor of SHD Logistics magazine (whereby 'SHD' stands for 'Storage, Handling, Distribution'). SHD Logistics is already partnering with Transaid to raise money as it identifies, champions, implements and shares local transport solutions to improve access to basic services and economic opportunity for people in Africa and in developing countries. We have raised money by nominating Transaid as our partner charity for the SHD Awards, which took place for the first time in March 2014. Transaid is also the partner charity of IMHX 2016, the UK's largest event for the logistics industry, which we also run.
I wish to take my personal contribution further by getting
off my arse and putting some miles under my belt! Cycle Tanzania 2015 was
'sold' to me by Transaid when they caught me off-guard at an industry event,
and before I had the chance to change my mind, my name was read out at the UKWA
annual dinner to say I was taking part. So, no turning back.
My aim is to sail (pedal?) past the minimum fundraising target for the event of £3,300 and hit the £5,000 mark, and I aim to do this in a number of ways. Firstly, through individual donors to this page. Thank you for digging into your pockets to support Transaid and me. Your contribution is most gratefully appreciated, however small. Secondly, I shall create a number of opportunities within the pages of SHD Logistics Magazine to encourage corporate donors to get behind my campaign.
In order to help attract corporate sponsorship, I will be selling sponsorship on my shirt, gaining exposure in SHD Logistics magazine and all of its associated digital brethren. Please see the image elsewhere on this page. The whole shirt is available exclusively for £1,000. A big ask, but, well, you never know....
I shall, of course, be running the obligatory blog, to keep
you all posted about my training and preparations, as well as my progress
whilst on-event.
Please check back here occasionally for details of these.
Thanks again for your support.
