Story
Unfortunately on Thursday the 28th of July Peter Gillan, a beloved father, granda, husband, son and friend passed away. We are raising money for the Aberdeen Royal Informary Intensive Care Unit because these wonderful people saved his life once, and gifted us the incredible opportunity of extra time with this amazing man. The work that they do goes well above and beyond the call of duty, and we will be forever greatful to all of those who were involved throughout his stay.
We know that were he here today his wish would be that rather than sending flowers or bringing them to the service, everyone made a donation to this great cause. Even the smallest amount will go a long way and this money could be used for research, new equipment or amenities that visitors, staff and patients could benefit from.
*** HERE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART***
You can do so much more than make a cash donation!
During Peter's stay in the ICU he required multiple blood transfusions, without which we would not have had the extra time with him. We now feel a duty to return the favour and would like to ask you all to please go to your nearest blood transfusion centre and make a donation. To keep up with demand in Scotland they require more than 5,000 new donors per week - you really could save a life! For those in the UK you can register and find the nearest place to donate using this website: https://www.scotblood.co.uk/aberdeen.aspx
Finally, we would like to say a sincere thank you in advance to all who can donate (whether it be money, blood or both). He would be so proud of everybody's efforts to support a cause so important to him, as well as countless other individuals and family's. For those interested there will be a service at 11:30 on Thursday the 4th of August at the Baldarroch Crematorium in Banchory. In an ode to the man himself, we'd like to ask that the men wear a wacky tie - something he had a wonderful collection of!
