Story
In 2010 my 12 year old daughter was struck down with ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis). Lottie was a highly active child, hugely competitive and represented both the School and the town team at a number of sports. ME is a debilitating illness which led to her being housebound, being unable to attend school for 3 years and also being unable to perform basic everyday tasks without assistance.
Lottie is now 18 and has so far attended 4 different hospitals and a private clinic in quest to regain health.
There is still very little known about the illness, with no known cause or cure. Action for ME is a charity that not only offers support for those suffering with this illness, but also is investing in research to try and find a cure.
At 51 years of age I am undertaking a challenge in support of this charity. I am learning to ride a bicycle for the first time in my life (I have already fallen off twice and had a visit to A&E) and I intend to cycle 50 miles on 9th August 2015 visiting all 5 of the treatment centres. I am overweight and hugely unfit, and as such I also intend to lose 50lb in weight to ensure I can complete this challenge.
Sam Gildert, and a team from Direct Affinity Events, Emma Pickering, Antony Bonney, Michael Buckley and Andrea Williams will be joining me on Lottie's Journey.
