For those that know me, the word "marathon" is only used in conversations when talking about my sisters Veronica and Ruth and their amazing running achievements. However for 1 year only I will be joining my sisters and running the London marathon. Yes you have read correctly.....Pippa is running the London marathon!

My chosen charity is Allergy UK,  a charity close to my heart who have provided my family with invaluable resources, support and information since my daughter Grace was born. Grace was diagnosed with a suspected milk allergy a few weeks after she was born and officially diagnosed with a milk allergy at aged one. As we were learning how to feed and raise a baby with a milk allergy, we found out that Grace was also allergic to all nuts including peanuts. With the help of Grace's NHS paediatric consultant, dietician and Allergy UK we begun the process of navigating and educating ourselves on living with allergies. 

But why run a marathon you ask?  

Grace is my inspiration. From talking to other students, Grace realised that there are lots of people who don’t understand how important it is for them not to eat nuts near people with nut allergies. With the support and help of her school and across 3 days of morning assemblies, Grace was able to explain to her fellow students what it is like for her living with allergies every day and how they could help her and other people with allergies to stay safe. So if Grace can stand up  and speak in front of 600 plus students, surely I can run a marathon for Allergy UK!
