Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the Bupa Great North Run 2014 for the Isabel Hospice a fantastic local hospice who provided the most amazing care and support for my late mother and also provided the family with great support during the most difficult of times. The hospice is a truly amazing charity that relies on donations to help it maintain the fantastic support it provides to local families in times of need. Below is an abstract taken from their website for all those that are interested in what they are all about.
Isabel Hospice was founded in 1982 by a number of dedicated people inspired by Isabel Last, who herself had cancer, with the aim of providing palliative care and support to any adult with a life-limiting disease.
It was registered as a charity in 1983 and works throughout the eastern Hertfordshire area. Isabel Hospice is an independent body governed by a Board of Trustees and run day to day by a Management Team. We work closely with other healthcare providers in our area such as GP's and District Nurses.
The focus of the Hospice has always been to provide the highest possible quality of life for each patient in our care through a wide range of services delivered by staff and volunteers at a location convenient to the patient - their home, one of our Day Centres or our In-Patient Unit.
All care provided is free to our patients, their families and carers. The hospice is part-funded by the NHS locally, but the majority of income is from fundraising and trading activity.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those of you that have visited my page and taken the time to read my story; and to those of you that have donated no matter the value your donation is very much appreciated and will go towards helping a fantastic charity that helps so many local people in dealing with a terrible disease and the heartache/distress this causes.
