Story
I have decided to live below the food poverty line, at £1 a day, for one week during the busiest week at university - Freshers week.
I've been inspirated by the organisation https://www.livebelowtheline.com/uk/, which recruits members of the public to live off £5 in 5 days in order to combat world hunger.
Those who have seen my Instagram feed and blog will know that producing recipes with elaborate ingredients, is what I love to do the most. The stark contrast between my very comfortable student life and with the growing homeless population, is very visible in the streets of Exeter. This makes me ashamed of how much I take my daily allowance for granted. So this fancy lifestyle will come to a halt for a one week, with the aim of considering the predicament of those who have to deliberate between eating today or buying that pack of sanitary towels.
I have chosen to fundraise for Exeter-based charity 'Community Housing Aid' as they target people with mental health difficulties, and young people aged 16-25, to get sustainable and emergency accommodation. For more on their projects take a look here: http://communityha.org.uk/our-projects/
I am asking for you to support me through this challenge, and I hope that it makes just a little difference to the vulnerable homeless community in Exeter.
