Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Free the Bears is a charity committed to ending the exploitation of bears in Asia. Asia is home to three-quarters of the world's bear species, which includes sun bears, moon bears and sloth bears. All three of these are currently at risk of extinction due to high demand for their body parts in traditional medicine and as food. Thousands of bears are kept caged and tortured on bile farms for their bile to be used in traditional medicine, others are hunted and snared for their meat, while their cubs are sold into the illegal wildlife trade.

Free the Bears has already rescued other 800 bears and currently provides lifelong care for over 200 in their sanctuaries in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. It has also supported over 500 families in establishing alternative livelihoods. Their pioneering field research and acclaimed environmental education programmes ensure that bears are protected in the wild, where they belong.
