Raw Foundation was created by Melinda Watson, a sustainability expert and environmental campaigner, in memory of her son Rory (Raw) Watson who died tragically in India in 2008.

I bravely / stupidly / generously volunteered to shed some weight and perhaps a little skin when I took part in a sponsored chest wax for Raw Foundation.

Myself and my chief fundraiser and Sarah Cowley set the ambitious target of reaching £1000 before the big day. It soon became apparent that there were plenty of you willing to pay handsomely to see me put through the pain.

Thanks to Sarah and her team’s phenomenal fundraising efforts, two days before the deadline we hit and exceeded the £1000 target.

Also big thank you to Nailcraft of Cardiff High Street for donating the waxing and to Trudy Archer (Petes boss) who pledged £50. But mostly thanks to my team for putting up with all my ideas and constant nagging you have all been amazing”

“It was a comical / painful experience day 10-14 after the waxing were exceptionally itchy (fortunately that has now passed and I can put that torture behind me) I’m so glad we were able to raise so much money for Raw Foundation, but really the credit does have to go to Sarah for all her fundraising efforts. Seriously an amazing job.”

The money raised from this valiant effort will go towards rolling out the student-led campaign in universities across the South of England. This will include identifying, training and supporting student leaders to amplify critical information about the hidden consequences of our everyday plastic purchases, as well as inspire them to run their own ‘Making Waves’ campaign and conceive sustainable solutions to reduce plastic consumption on campus and in their local community.
