Story
When I was 17 I started to realise my relationship with food became very strained and unhealthy. Me and my family soon discovered I had an eating disorder. I am now 22 and still have this brain. I’ve been through varying types of eating disorders but the mindset is always the same.
I’ve been hospitalised for 5 months, had varying therapists during the 5 years I’ve had this illness and been on medication to keep myself ticking along. Despite all this I still struggle mentally and find living a normal life a chore and struggle, due to my eating disorder and the accompanying anxiety and depression that came with it.
When I came to Norwich 3 years ago, I was so afraid that I would fall apart as my team was still in Newcastle. However during my time here, I managed to find Eating Matters. A charity I thank tremendously for, as they have gotten me through some of my toughest of days and helped me to see life in a brighter colour. One of my most favourite things I have learnt during my time there is that - no matter how many times you fall back on your crutches whatever it is - food, alcohol or self harm etc - it doesn’t mean you are failing yourself or anyone. You are merely trying to survive the moment in time you’re going through and struggling with, which in all fact is a triumph. It doesn’t mean it’s ok but you are strong enough to want to get through the situation and continue living!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, ive put it up because I am hoping to raise money for this team, because they deserve all the help they can get, to further the work they give and help save more peoples lives for the better. Me, my mum and dad and partner are all going to climb Snowdon, something not easy or quick so really hope you will support us on this task.
