We provide housing and support to help homeless and vulnerable people

Story

I am participating in the 2019 Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 to help raise money for Transform Housing and Support charity. They are a charity providing care and support to some of the most socially excluded and vulnerable groups in Surrey and surrounding areas who are dedicated to the prevention of homelessness and committed to providing home based care. They support more than 2,000 people each year and not only offer people a safe place to live but each client has a Transform keyworker allocated to them. The keyworker is dedicated to helping them gain confidence, like skills, and access to education, training and employment opportunities as well as empowering them to live a happier and healthier life

Transform Housing and Support charity support those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Services include support for those with mental health issues, with drug and alcohol dependencies, as well as physical and learning disabilities. They support younger and older people – and more recently both single people and families who are in desperate need of temporary accommodation.

When our clients move-on from Transform (the average length of stay with us is around 2 years), we follow up with them a year later to see if they have maintained the changes they achieved whilst with us

Below are some statistics of what people who have worked and needed Transform have achieved -

· 93% of clients felt able to build or maintain relationships with friends and family

· 95% said the support received has helped them improve their general quality of life

· 95% said support received helped them maintain settled accommodation

Research undertaken by Shelter in 2018 indicates that at least 320,000 people, including rough sleepers and those in temporary accommodation, are now homeless across Britain. Nationally, that equates to 1 in 200 people being technically homeless … and what is unknown is the hidden homeless – those sofa-surfing, or living in their cars. So please help and raise money for this fantastic charity, all of your donations will be very much appreciated.

They give people a second chance in life…To find out more, have a look at their website www.transformhousing.org.uk

Thanks, Rhys.
