Your son has CANCER - words you never want to hear... but we did. 

Staging, treatment, recovery, all clear... all a blur...

Only after do you take stock of who and what helped you through what was the most traumatic time of our lives - AbbysHeroes played a very significant part in our Journey - things like when your son is under General Anaesthetic and you return to your room to find an M&S food voucher and your hospital parking paid for the duration of your treatment... On a Saturday evening when they pay for Pizza delivery for the ward, for us at the time it was the little things. But for many parents who aren't as fortuitous as us they help with mortgage payments, travelling costs and days out. Post treatment they have also helped us in many ways living with the significant life changes post cancer.

In 2009 I ran a marathon (slowly) but have spent the following 13 years getting less fit and more fat!!! I made the decision during Jaspers treatment that, when the dust had settled, I would get back into running. With that I have a plan to put more back into the charity than we have taken from it. Paying it forward!!! So I started running again and have entered this 10km race...

Just 10km and he is asking for money... put it this way... completing this 10km, from the starting point I was at and given the year we have had as a family will feel like a CONSIDERABLY greater achievement than completing the marathon 13 years ago... 

So please give what you can to support families in a way we were so wonderfully supported ourselves.
