I started running seriously at the start of lockdown and just kept running!! I have lost nearly 9 stone in weight from my playing weight as professional rugby player and water to channel my drive and ambition into something that challenges me physically and mentally. I figured an ultra marathon is up there with the crazy hobbies!!

The fundraising is an additional motivation born out of my elderly mother’s recent battles with Covid. She has spent over 3 months in hospital and is still there recovering. The running has been a massive benefit to me mentally through this challenging time and it will be awesome to put this onto practice on race day.

I have chosen Age Cymru as they do terrific work in supporting the elderly and vulnerable in Wales. My mum definitely falls into that category so it will be great to support such a vital charity and support network. Mum will be needing this when she finally gets out of hospital and any bit of financial help will support this great cause.
