Story

The challenge - Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. On 31st July I will be cycling the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 mile route used at the London 2012 Olympics. The journey starts in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, then follows a 100-mile route on closed roads through the capital and into Surrey’s stunning countryside, with a few leg-testing climbs thrown in for good measure, finishing on The Mall in central London. I am riding the route in support of the Natural History Museum.

Why the Natural HistoryMuseum -There are crises ahead. Natural resources are diminishing, the ecosystems we rely on are under stress, food sources are declining and new diseases are emerging. The Museum is a powerhouse of scientific enquiry and a voice of authority on the natural world. Their scientists carry out research that has global impact and this includes:

  • exploring the ocean to understand how this ecosystem is affected by environmental change
  • identifying ways to prevent the decline of the British bumblebee, a vital pollinator
  • Engaging society in scientific debate and fostering a better understanding of the origins of life, evolution, biodiversity and sustainability

The museum needs your support to continue this important research and help find solutions to the problems that threaten society and the natural world. - See more at: http://www.nhm.ac.uk/support-us/why-support-us.html#sthash.dLRTTz1Z.dpuf
