My name is Rob Colwell I am Bexley Foster Carer and on the 25/06/2016 I am going to personally challenge myself and partake in a 54 mile (18hrs non-stop) trek from Kent to Brighton Pier alongside a teenager who is in foster care.
I am doing this to represent ALL the children and young people in foster care. Children and young people in foster care have to face challenges and overcome obstacles on a regular basis. Children and young people come into care for many different reasons for which is no fault of their own. Therefore, the first step as foster carers is to begin to slowly put together broken parts of their life and we start by building their self-esteem and self-confidence this can then lead to other progressions in their lives.
Children and young people in foster care need stability and security but most of all they need LOVE and people who can build strong and positive relationships with them. I believe more can still be done for these children and young people which is why the Fostering Network is my chosen charity for this trek.
