Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

From June 14th  to 26th I will be doing a charity bike ride, Lands’ end to John O Groats ( the route will be approximately 1000 miles, averaging 80 to 100 miles a day), in aid of the Archie Foundation and CALICO. The Archie Foundation is very well known, they make a real difference for local children when they are sick, they provide more advanced or extra facilities, equipment, people and training. They also provide extensive support to families of sick children. CALICO (Cancer and Leukaemia in Children Orientated) is a less well-known  local charitable organisation. The charity is for the benefit of all families who have children suffering from cancer, Leukaemia or cancer related illnesses. The first priority of CALICO is to the family of any child with cancer or leukaemia to alleviate, where possible stress caused by additional expenses i.e. heating, telephone and travel and where necessary accommodation for those from outlying areas in the Grampian Region. CALICO takes advice from the permanent social worker at Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital concerning the needs of families without infringing on their privacy. I will be raising money through justgiving.com and sponsor sheets for the Archie Foundation and sponsor sheets for CALICO. Any donations to help the sick children and families would be wonderful. Thank You.

Update:
Well, the bike ride has been and gone now - and I did it!  It was a struggle at times, with the knees and legs taking all the strain, especially across Dartmoor, into a bit of Wales, through the Cumbrian hills and over Shap Fell, up the side of Loch Ness and up through Caithness to John O'Groats. But all 43 of us did it and we had a good celebration in Inverness the next evening. Then home, tired and pleased.

Lots of you have followed my journey on Facebook, with nightly updates.  Even before I set off, my target for fundraising had been exceeded and it continues to grow, so thank-you to all who have donated and to those about to. Here;s hoping we can even get up to £10,000. I am very grateful to you all.

And I am still cycling - the legs and knees won't let me give up!!
