We invest in life-changing eye care to help people with sight loss.

Story

In 2012 I was diagnosed at Moorfields Eye Hospital with the rare degenerative genetic eye disease, Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP). This initial diagnosis and following years as an outpatient have given me a privileged insight into a medical establishment that is the undisputed world leader in its field of eye care and ophthalmology research globally. It is a pioneering centre of excellence that we should be very proud of on the world stage. Their cutting edge research makes and has made the lives of millions of people world wide infinitely better and with the help of donations to the Moorfields Eye Charity, will continue to do so in the future.

It’s with this in mind that in 2019 I have decided to drag my non athletic self around over 100k of races for the cause. This 100k consists of the Brighton half marathon (Feb), London marathon (April) and the Loch Ness marathon (October).

Any donations are much appreciated.

Every 15 minutes, someone in the UK starts to lose their sight.

At Moorfields Eye Charity, we believe that we can help bring new treatments to patients with eye diseases faster than ever before. By raising funds for the crucial research, education and patient care at Moorfields Eye Hospital and its academic partner, the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, we are able to help ensure that they remain at the forefront of ophthalmic care and research.

Together, Moorfields Eye Hospital and the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology are the most productive academic partnership in ophthalmology. This means that they produce more research than any other eye hospital in the world.

Moorfields Eye Charity is the main fundraising and grant-making charity for Moorfields Eye Hospital and the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology. We provide targeted funds, above and beyond the responsibility of the NHS, to research cures and find treatments for our patients and millions of people affected by eye disease in the UK and around the world. Through support from our donors, we are able to:

Help Moorfields Eye Hospital provide the best possible care for its patients
Invest in state-of-the-art equipment
Educate the researchers and clinicians of tomorrow
Fund research to find better and more effective treatments for blinding diseases
