I will be running the Verona marathon on the 5th of October 2014. I participate in a number of long distance events each year but I choose only one of these as a focus for fundraising for a deserving charity so that I am not imposing on friends and colleagues too often. 

I work at the University of Bristol and am extremely proud of what the University achieves in all domains of activity: teaching, research and enterprise. This year, I am running to support the University's research in domestic violence - an area that can sometimes struggle to attract funding.  The work Bristol does in this area informs policy, practice and action on gender-based violence.

I would be very grateful if you would make a donation. No matter how big or how small, it will help the University to continue to its work in this important area.
