Fundraising for Toilet Twinning
Story
I am a Southland's venture student looking to raise money to help twin toilets. Toilet twinning means raising money to build toilets in other places and linking it to your own. I would like to raise enough to build four school blocks of £240 each. If you have any spare cash every little helps to building a better future for others.
I want to do this because:
- 1/2 of women in africa drop out of school because they don't have their own toilet
- not having a loo puts people at risk of snake bites
- 1 in 3 people don't have somewhere safe to go to the toilet
- 500,000 children die a year from diarrhoea, that's 1400 a day
- for every £1 spent on water and sanitation programmes, £8 is returned through increases productivity and reduced health costs
At university we have so many toilets to choose from but would you be here is there was no where to go, if you had to walk miles every day for water? Together we can make a difference by twinning our toilets.
