This year for Romeo’s birthday we don’t wish for gifts or presents. However if you would like to give a gift for Romeo for his 1st Birthday we would kindly ask you to please donate to our fundraiser to support families like ours battling CHD.

On the 25th of July 2019 Romeo was admitted to the Ocean Ward in Southampton General Hospital. He spent 5 weeks here and overcame his first open heart surgery. 

On the 16th of February 2020 Romeo was admitted back on to the Ocean Ward for a planned 3 day admission. It became very apparent after a day that we were in this for the long haul again, we have now currently been here for a month. He has had 1 cardiac catheter procedure, 4 cardiac arrests a stay in PICU and he has been fighting an infection for over 2 weeks. We are currently waiting for him to have a permanent pacemaker fitted once he is well enough. 

Sadly whilst we have been here he has been diagnosed with another heart condition called Restrictive Cardiomyopathy and eventually he will need a heart transplant when his heart failure progresses. 

The Ocean Ward is a home away from home for us, we cannot thank them enough for everything they have done for us over the last year and the support we will continue to receive throughout Romeo’s life. 

Families of Ocean Ward supports families like ours with home comforts on the ward to make our stay more bearable, facilities, toys, financial support and days out for us to enjoy. 

We have witnessed first hand just how amazing this charity is and will continue to raise awareness and support.

We are a registered Charity (1145013) formed by volunteer parents of children with cardiac disease who rely on the services provided by Ocean Ward and it’s team of specialist and dedicated staff.We have strong links with the ward with a representative from Ocean Ward involved in strategic planning and decision making . This enables us to stay abreast of the day to day needs of families being cared for on Ocean Ward.We provide services and days out to families of children with heart conditions treated on Ocean Ward, Southampton GH.
