Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Everyone knows someone who has been affected by Cancer, through friends, work colleagues, and family. Cancer has been a part of my life since February this year when my Mum was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Since then we have been through an operation, a course of chemothereapy, and shortly a course of Radiothereapy will start. There have been many challenges throughout the journey for all of us, but the end of treatment and the start of recovery for mum is nearly in sight.

We  must say thank you to everyone who has supported us all, and especially mum, during this difficult year. In particular the staff at the Royal Bolton Hospital and The Christie in Manchester have been amazing and always there for us!

There is another group to thank, and that is the Bury Cancer Support Centre who have been a support for mum since the start. She can pop in and have complimentary therapy, a cup of tea and a chat with people whenever she wants.

They provide a number of services to anyone in the local area suffering with any form of Cancer (and their families too!):

  • A unique drop in service - for those touched by cancer - patients, carers & relatives
  • No referral necessary - no appointment required - support for as long as is needed - available to all from all locations
  • Qualified and experienced professionals
  • Information - support - guidance - advice - someone to listen
  • friendship - therapies - bereavement counselling - nutritional advice
  • Cafe serving homemade food & drinks

Unfortunately the Centre was affected by the New Year's Eve 2015/16 Floods that hit the North West particularly hard and the Centre had to move to temporary accommodation (goo.gl/87kM1H) for over a year; with the Centre reopening in July 2017.

So I want to raise some much needed funds for the Centre in order to help them to continue to support everyone affected by Cancer. As a small charity they do not have the luxury of big Fundraising efforts so every little will help deliver this vital work!

Thank you so much for anything you can give! If anyone will be in Exeter in early October then please do come and cheer us on (I will need it!!) Thank you!
