Story
Hello. Thank you for coming this far!
In July, I am attempting to complete an Ironman 70.3 (I wish it was called an Ironwoman) to raise money for the wonderful charity Endometriosis UK. Over the past few years I have witnessed my incredibly strong sister, Minna, battle this condition whilst I feel totally helpless on the sideline. So, this is my attempt to help all the women living with this horrible condition. I will be swimming 1.9km, cycling 90km and running 21km in one fell swoop in the hope to raise funding for this badass charity and the badass people who will benefit from it.
Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb starts to grow in other places, like the ovaries, fallopian tubes and both inside and outside the uterus. It affects 1 in 10 women, and yet on average it takes 7 years to be diagnosed. Women living with this condition can be subject to excruciating pain, excessive bleeding and extreme fatigue on a daily basis. Part of the reason for this incredibly long diagnosis time is due to a lack of research surrounding the condition, because it is underfunded and understudied.
Thank you for reading and for any donation, big or small, it all makes a difference! :)
