We fund essential medical research to find a cure for Lymphangioleiomyomatosis

Story

Hey everyone! Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Sunday 2nd of October, I'll be running 26 and a bit miles around London for LAM action.

LAM Action provides valuable support to those with LAM and their families and helps fund important research into LAM. As a small charity focused on an extremely rare disease, they are run almost exclusively by volunteers and generate almost all of their income from donations and fundraising.

Lymphangioleiomyomatosis, known as LAM (as it's a bit of a mouthful), is a very rare disease that affects women almost exclusively. It is characterised by lunch cysts, abnormalities in the lymphatic system, and non-malignant kidney tumours.

I heard of the charity through meeting an old colleague of the Firm I work for, Gill Hollis. Gill, who is living with LAM, has been a trustee of the charity since her lung transplant in 2004. We also discovered, slightly serendipitously, that Gill is an old class mate of my Dad (poor thing)!

The charity is very small, and so a little goes such a long way in providing support to women with LAM and research to find a cure.

Thanks to you all for the support and any help is greatly appreciated.

Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a rare lung disease that only occurs in women. It affects just over one woman in a million. We are a self-help group providing support for patients with LAM and raise money for vital research - it is often difficult to obtain money for research into a rare disease.
