Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

WHY I’M DOING THIS.

Earlier in April this year I did my 1st London Marathon with only 30 days notice of having my place confirmed (completed in 4hrs 4mins). To have been able to raise money that has helped contribute to improving people’s lives (Cancer Research UK) was such a rewarding feeling that I got the bug and was gagging to do another sporting challenge for charity! The recruitment company I work for in London partner with & rent desks out to School of Hard Knocks (http://www.schoolofhardknocks.org.uk/), a 2 year old, 3-man-band charity that has featured on Sky Sports TV. The charity has had an excellent start & has been associated with Prince Harry, Scott Quinnell, Will Greenwood, Andy Gomarsall and Stuart Lancaster.

To try & give the kids they represent a good Christmas & help the charity raise funds for 2015 I volunteered & suggested the idea of 500 lengths as fast as I can in 1 session. The close friends I’ve informed of this idea so far have given me the “as if you’ll do that!” treatment however this will only add to my drive & motivation ;)

WHO ARE SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS (SOHK)

School of Hard Knocks is a social inclusion charity which runs courses that use sport to tackle the issues surrounding unemployment, antisocial behaviour, crime and health. The charity has an expert team of coaches and mentors and is supported by a wide range of high profile individuals from within and outside sport. Our work has been documented 7 times by Sky Sports since 2007 and has grown into one of the most effective and high profile courses in the UK, working with some of the most hard to reach individuals in our society.

WHAT THEY DO

·         We run courses nationwide, using our unique programme of challenging activities and values-based lessons to help participants take positive steps forward in their lives.

·         We teach responsibility, motivation, teamwork, respect and discipline, all of which allow individuals to take responsibility for their actions and context.

·         Our programmes are delivered to young children, teenagers and adults, with extra skills-based lessons tailored to the participants and their requirements.

ABOUT ME

I’m 28yrs old, originally from East Grinstead, West Sussex but now living in Essex. I’m a recruiter & headhunter with awful banter but a lot of drive & LOVE to take on a challenge…and win! If you can spare £10 or anything at all to give me a boost & help contribute to improving the lives of people a lot worse off than you and I, your generosity will not go unrecognised.

(I also intend to consume 500 mince pies in the following week… being the Christmas season!)

A HUGE thanks also to Ironmonger Baths (Better Gym) in Old Street for letting me train in their pool!

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
