Story

Having cancer is hard at any age, but for a teenager or young adult it’s unthinkable. ‘Normal life’ suddenly stops and young people find themselves thrown into a scary unknown world of hospitals and cancer treatment. This can have a devastating impact on their lives. Our mission is to ensure that every young person with cancer receives prompt diagnosis, the best possible treatment, and age-appropriate care and support from specialist professionals trained in caring for young people with cancer.

Here is a little story ..... In feb 2021 our mum Rowann Ford was diagnosed with breast cancer and is still under treatment and awaiting the news of being cancer free. Little did we know exactly a year later march 2022 Jago would be diagnosed with a rare head and neck cancer. Cancer of the saliva gland that went into the facial nerve. Never in our wildest dreams did we think cancer would strike fast and for the second time in the family.  Cancer doesn't discriminate to who it effects. But it messed with the wrong family!

Jago has under gone surgery to remove a large tumour and some of his facial nerves and is under going radiotherapy treatment currently to hopefully destroy the last of the cancer cells that wasn't removed in surgery. H

The Teenage cancer trust are part of Jago support network and providing the specialist nurses and welfare staff to make sure not only Jago is being supported but us as his siblings. As cancer effects the whole family.

As sporting family we have always thrown ourselves into life. Jago plays rugby for Firwood waterloo club and rugby 7's. I (Tecca) enjoy rugby and play for Loughbrough College and Judo. Our mum is the judo coach of Redruth Judo Club. Our dad is the best Number one fan any of us can ask for along with our younger sister Arwen who is amazingly creative in writing and dance. Our mum has taught us to live in the moment and to pick ourselves up when life gets tough.

Well she never anticipated us in throwing ourselves out of a perfectly good plane for charity, especially in a time of need. But again she always taught us to think of others before ourselves. So here we are signed up for a really good charity. We, Jago and myself would be over the moon if you can support us by donating in our challenge to help other families that are going through this life changing moment.

Many Thanks

Tecca Ford
