Story

I wanted to make a personal contribution towards People Tree's fundraising for our community of hand-knitters in Nepal, who have been massively affected by the recent earthquakes.

Trying to raise £50,000 is a tall order. Especially when you might not have a personal connection with Nepal.

I thought about what would be 'challenging' for me to do (not saying running a marathon again wouldn't be) and decided that potentially humiliating myself in front of a comedy hungry audience, might be suitably challenging and therefore worthy of sponsoring!?!

I'm delighted to be given a slot to perform at the Edinburgh Festival-but it's massively nerve wracking because I've only technically spent 2 hours sat next to some famous comedians (Alan Davies and Arthur Smith), which isn't quite the same as standing up and doing it yourself!!

That's not quite true, I did have one go at Stand Up last year and since then, I've been secretly honing my stories.. so please support me- the more I can fundraise, the less humiliating it will feel when .. no-one's laughing at my yellow feather boa in a hospital gift shop story.. or the time that ...

Many thanks- love Roxy xx
