Story
On the 31st of July Roland and I shall partake in the 2021 Great Kindrochit Quadrathlon to raise money for the Walk & Talk Trust and Mary's Meals charities and we would appreciate your support!
The Great Kindrochit Quadrathlon (The Quad) is an exhilarating test of stamina, strength and fitness through some of the most spectacular and historic areas of the Scottish Highlands. As it is an event for teams of two, Roland and I will take on all disciplines together.
What we're doing?
Starting at Ardtalnaig shore on the south side of Loch Tay we start by swimming 0.8 miles across the loch, followed by a 15 mile run/hike over seven Munros in the Ben Lawers range (Meall Greigh, Meall Garbh, An Stuc, Ben Lawers, Beinn Ghlas, Meall Corranaich and Meall Nan Tarmachan), then we kayak 7 miles from Loch Tay Highland Lodges back to Ardtalnaig, before jumping on our bikes and cycling 34 miles round Loch Tay to finish the event by slicing a watermelon in half with a sword. It's a truly unique event.
Walk & Talk Trust
Walk & Talk Trust was founded for the public benefit, to promote the physical and mental health benefits associated with regular healthy exercise, specifically walking. Through education, targeted support and the establishment of new walking trails, the charity is looking to increase participation in walking activities across all the generations in the North. Through The Big Smile events, the charity wants to provide Year 6 schoolchildren with a pair of their own brand-new walking boots and to encourage parents and guardians to provide opportunities for children to go walking and “break in” their new boots outside of school time. Our aim is to make walking more accessible, to bring families together to walk and talk, to boost the sense of wellbeing and to bring a “Big Smile” to a lot of little faces. Mary's Meals
Mary's Meals provides life-changing meals to some of the world's poorest children everyday they attend school. Our vision is that every child receives one daily meal in their place of education and that al those who have more than they need, share with those who lack event the most basic things. Working together with those who share our vision, we believe there is no good reason why this cannot be realised. More information here: https://www.marysmeals.org.uk/who-we-are/our-vision/
Thank you in advance for any kind donations!
