On the 1st May 2014 I cut all my hair off to raise money for the charity YoungMinds.

Their aim is to empower children and young people with mental health problems as well as help eliminate the stigma attached to mental health in today's society. YoungMinds not only provide support for youths but for parents and carers that are also affected.

Mental health problems can take many forms - eating disorders, depression, self harm etc - however many young people and parents don't get the help and support they need because of how it is currently viewed.

This can change. With your sponsors, YoungMinds can improve the wellbeing of young people. More training and support for parents and professionals can be provided which means more children and young adults can be helped. Also our understanding of how the media and social sites affect young people can be strengthened so we can begin to change the negative influences of the media into positives.
