Story

Working in partnership with the Royal Voluntary Service in 2017

To celebrate our 40th year, we are working in collaboration with the Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) who have agreed to be our charity partner for 2017.

RVS is another organisation with a long history of working to
enrich the lives of older people and their families. A charity founded in 1938 by Lady Stella Reading, as the Women’s Voluntary Services, which then helped civilians in need during the war, RVS continues to inspire people to volunteer focusing today on supporting our ageing population. Its 35,000 amazing volunteers provide emotional and practical support to more than 100,000 older people each month in hospital, at home and in the community.

The money we raise will enable RVS to support more older people in communities across the country; providing lunch clubs and social activities, home library services, community transport schemes and supporting on wards and on the return home from a stay in hospital.

About the charity

In every corner of Britain, Royal Voluntary Service mobilises volunteers to support those in need, in hospital and the community. By inspiring the gift of voluntary service, we keep people happy, healthy and connected.
