Story
We are a passionate group of Winstanley College who believe that every child should have access to the best medical care when they need it most - that's why we're supporting the amazing charity MedEquip4Kids.
Since 1985, MedEquip4Kids has been dedicated to providing lifesaving medical equipment for the most vulnerable of children in hospitals across the North West of England. As well as fundraising for essential paediatric equipment not available from limited NHS resources, MedEquip4Kids support the Rainbow Ward in Wigan by providing books, toys and games to distract children from their illnesses. It is estimated that 1 in 10 children suffers from a mental health condition and MedEquip4Kids work with CAMHS to support children and adolescents with eating disorders, self harm, depression and many more.
We admire and appreciate the work so much and that's why at Winstanley College we want to work with MedEquip4Kids to fundraise for the Rainbow Ward at Wigan Hospital so that they can provide beds for parents to stay overnight, comforting and supporting their children who may be extremely ill.
One of the ways we are doing this is organising (and participating in of course!) a 20 mile walk from Southport Pier to Wigan Pier on Saturday the 1st of July 2017. This event - which will be open to the public - will be amazing for raising community spirit, awareness of this charity as well as money for an incredible cause. Please help us out and remember that any contribution, no matter how small, is part of a big difference, improving the lives of local children.
