Story

What is Sadaqah?

Sadaqah (charity) is the concept of
giving charity voluntarily fi sabillilah
فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّٰهِ‎ (for the cause of Allah).

Even a smile is Charity

Sadaqah also describes a voluntary
charitable act towards another being, whether through generosity, love,
compassion or faith. These acts are not necessarily physical or monetary.
Simple good deeds such as a smile, or a helping hand, are seen as acts of Sadaqah.

A number of sayings of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) emphasize the benefits
of giving Sadaqah:  " Sadaqah extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire." (Tirmidhi)
"The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity." (Tirmidhi)

Assalam Alaikum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuhu (May the peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be with you) respected brothers and sisters.

On the blessed day of Friday the 13th of March, my beloved Uncle Javed Iqbal, my father’s eldest only brother took his final breath in his homeland village in Pakistan during his visit. To be returned to his creator, as his time came to an end. This came as a sudden shock to us all and left us all nauseated, However, it is a case of reality and eye-opening events, as the countdown for our departure from this world is continues on, as death is inevitable. And therefore, the purpose of this fund-raiser.

He was a man known in the community for his jolly, cheerful, friendly nature. He gave everything for his family, held firm to the knot of kinship and been blessed to perform Hajj alongside his brother. He never allowed his distresses to be rubbed on others, or hold grudges, rather just simply smiling.

As a form of Sadaqah Jariyah on his behalf, I and my family would like you to kindly and open-heartedly donate however much, big or small to help build a community well in the provisions of East Africa, providing a source of clean, sustainable healthy water to children and families who are restricted to such a blessing we often look past. Water is an essential necessity needed to sustain life. Countless, men, women and children are stuck in a devastating cycle of poverty where they have become accustomed to thirst and disease. They spend hours every day walking miles just to collect water, which in many cases, is not even clean and safe to use. In Sha Allah (God willing) the intention is to raise the desired amount and begin construction close to the time of Ramadan. May Allah reward you from his infinite treasures endless treasures. Ameen.

On a personal note, from the depths of my heart, I'd like to thank you all again for your support in this project and kindly request you keep my uncle, my family in your dua during these times, as shall I remember yours. Not forgetting all those across the globe, who be afflicted in calamity, and hardship. May Allah alleviate their pains, grant them protection and patience. Ameen. I pray we all once reunite with our loved ones in the gardens of paradise to live the life promised us for our good deeds, for never losing hope or trust and remaining steadfast and patient on this beautiful deen. So, continue to do as much good work you can, to being respectful and dutiful to your parents, giving them time and affection as they age. And being the best in conduct to your spouses. Always reflecting on the blessings you have been given, being grateful, regardless of circumstances. To solely relying upon Allah and placing all your faith and trust knowing nothing happens without his permission and his divine qadr is best for us. If we only knew. I wish you and your families all the best in health, wealth,  physicality, spirituality and betterment in this life and the next. Never give up, nor lose hope in his mercy, so turn back to Allah. Keep your head up and smile. Its sunnah. (:

Assalam Alaikum wa Rahmatullah wa barakatuhu.
Qasim.
