Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Running the London Marathon is a life long ambition of mine, and completing it for such a worthy local charity makes it even more special! My family has supported the Wingate Centre for the past 10 years, through booking birthday parties here for all three of my children and attending gym sessions.
Since being awarded their charity place in the London Marathon in January, I have begun volunteering weekly in the adults Arts and Crafts session; a weekly club for people with disabilities or learning difficulties, designed to encourage creative expression and promote personal development and confidence. This is a time of the week that I enjoy and find immensely rewarding. I feel lucky to have met such a group of wonderful artists and their carers, as well as being able to feel part of the team of employees and volunteers at the Wingate Centre.
Having developed a career which involves supporting neuro-diverse learners throughout their education, the core values of the Wingate Centre, devoted to enriching the lives of children and young people with all levels of physical and learning disabilities, resonates strongly with my own beliefs and I feel proud to be supporting so worthy a cause.
Any donation you make will be appreciated by the Wingate Centre, and will be used directly to support and develop the core physical, cognitive and emotional skills of all the children and young people who visit and use the centre; this is inclusive of all multiple or profound difficulties, as well as supporting and including those who demonstrate challenging behaviours. Leading to developing their self-esteem through achievement, encouragement and recognition.
