Story
Dear Friends and Family,
Several months ago Dad was clearly having a late mid life crisis and decided he needed a serious adventure. So after a few planning sessions we are now off to climb to base camp Everest on 16th May which sits at around 5400 meters. This is most certainly a tough father and son bonding exercise and I can’t wait to see who will be dragging who up the mountain.
Apart from the length of the trek the challenges presented range from the altitude, something that affects every person differently, the very high rickety bridges over deep ravines, (heights being a major phobia of dad’s!), the extreme temperatures and the steep and narrow paths.
Due to the formidable task presented as well as familial circumstance, I have decided to raise some money for a charity that focuses on dementia. This is something close to my heart as sadly my grandfather suffers from it. Also the fact that one in three people born today will have some form of dementia in their lives makes it a very prevalent issue.
The charity I have chosen to support is Race Against Dementia. Set up by Jackie Stewart, Race Against dementia aims to help cure dementia and donating will help with the crucial research required to help prevent and beat a disease that effects over 50million people around the world. Thank you for taking the time to read this, I really appreciate any support you can give me;
Best Wishes
Sam
