We empower local medical professionals to provide cleft treatment around the world

Story

When you decide the time is right to start a family the thought that your baby will be anything other than perfect doesn’t even enter your mind. In May 2017 at our 20 week scan we were told our baby would be born with a cleft lip and possible cleft palate. I am fully aware there are much worse things that you can be told at this point but it doesn’t necessarily make it any easier. Throughout the rest of my pregnancy I was filled with worry about what our baby would look like and how this diagnosis may impact the rest of his life. Needless to say the second our beautiful baby boy was placed on my chest all of the anxiety was instantly lifted and the love we have for him is beyond any we could have ever imagined. We are so proud to call our happy, smiley little boy ours, he truly is the light of our lives.

At 8 months old Bodhi had corrective surgery on both his lip and palate to allow him to lead a completely ‘normal’ life. In this country we are lucky enough to have access to the brilliant NHS, that provided this life changing surgery and additional support completely free of charge. Other children around the world are not as fortunate as this.
Therefore on April the 28th 2019 I will be running the London Marathon in aid of a charity very close to my heart, Smile Train, to ensure all children get the same equal chances as Bodhi. It has always been on my bucket list and with the real life motivation I have on a daily basis I have to grab this opportunity with both hands.
I am asking for your support with this and would greatly appreciate any donations you are able to give no matter how small or big.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, on behalf of my son and all the other people out there that are born with a cleft.
Watch this space for some fun fundraising activities.
My boy: My inspiration.
