Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My sister Amanda would of been 30 years old this year (16th May 2017) and therefore  I am undertaking a year of challenges/ fundraising in her memory. Amanda died in 1996 aged just 8 year old. She donated her organs saving the lives of at least 4 people.

This year of challenges started with the Cambridge half marathon on the 5th March 2017 and ending hopefully with climbing Kilimanjaro and lots in between, with help from friends and family. Will update on facebook and on this page with photos and info :)

Challenge 1- Cambridge half marathon successfully completed in 2hours 13minutes in difficult weather conditions.  In addition to the money raised on this page £390 was raised for cancer research.

Challenge 2- Gruelling 2 hour obstacle course fitness training at Forfitude Fitness.

Challenge 3-  Organising a charity show jumping show. Amanda loved horses and is the reason I started riding.  Her horse storm is still kept locally. 🐴 . The show was a huge success with showjumping, raffles , BBQ, guess the weight of the lambs, hook a duck, guess the name of a gorilla and stalls. The event raised £2002.90 !!  £100 of which was donated to a horse charity Prince Fluffy Kareem the rest to the Donor Family Network.

Challenge 4 - walking on fire 🔥 well hot coals -over 500 degrees ! This was for the charity EACH which support families and children and young people with terminal /life  threatening injuries in the east of England. £100 raised.

Challenge 5/6- climbing Ben Nevis.  I completed this on the 27th September in a time of 6 hours 29minutes in misty weather and gusts of 65mph!  I also climbed Scafell Pike in a time of just over 4 hours on the 23rd September.

Final challenge will be climbing Kilimanjaro in December 2017. Kilimnajaro stands at 19,341 feet and this challenge will take 5 days to submit and 2 days to descend. This will be a huge physical and emotional challenge.  The hardest thing I have ever had to do I am sure !

I successfully reached the summit of Kilimanjaro on the 31st December 2017 to complete my final challenge!

This is a great charity that receives no government funding and supports families of those who have died and donated organs for transplant as my sister did. (saving the lives of 4 people) The charity also works to promote awareness of organ donation

Please support if you can, even £1 would be much appreciated.  Also I would urge everyone to carry donor cards as something good has to come out of every tragedy. You are more likely to need an organ than to donate.
