Story
Dave and I will be fundraising for HOUNDS FOR HEROES in our year as Captain and Lady Captain at Tudor Park Golf Club. The charity supports the provision of specially trained assistance dogs for the disabled men and women of our Armed Forces and Emergency Services.
Through this provision the charity hopes to give its clients an enhanced quality of life in line with their expectations. Taught to problem solve and to be intuitive the dogs will remove the sense of disability in a client’s life and replace it with a feeling of ability.
Both Dave and I have either served in or have connections with the Armed Forces and Emergency Services. We understand firsthand how those that devote themselves to helping others deserve our help and support in times of need.
We were lucky enough to meet the patron of the charity, Allen Parton, whose dream started the charity. Allen, a Royal Navy Veteran of the first Gulf war, suffered severe physical and mental trauma whilst on duty. The arrival of an assistance dog called Endal transformed his life and that of his family.
Currently there are about 900,000 injured service personnel in the UK and each dog costs about £20,000 to put through training and to pay for vets fees through the first three years of its life.
Please give what you can to help us in our challenge for the year - we have already raised approximately £950 from our themed Drive-In day on 2nd March (pictured above) and will be holding more events throughout this coming year.
Thank you so much!
