My love and our dear friend, sister, niece, cousin and aunty Sandra left us on Friday 4th October 2019. We will soon be coming together to celebrate her rich and vibrant life. Most of you know that Sandra was a vegan and before that, for a long time, vegetarian.
A charity that was close to Sandra's heart was Dean Farm Trust near Chepstow, run by the inspirational Mary and Janette and their team, many of whom are volunteers. It is a sanctuary providing a home for life for over 200 animals: pigs, sheep, chickens, rabbits, ponies, donkeys, goats, turkeys, ducks, and cows - many of whom are from farms and whose short lives would have ended prematurely had they not found a safe haven at Dean Farm Trust. Many of the animals have been neglected prior to being rescued and some consequently have conditions that require ongoing medication and treatments.
The sanctuary does valuable work in educating people on compassionate living, hosting open events across the year. It does not receive a penny in government funding, depending solely on donations and fundraising for income. Every pound that we raise will be used to provide the existing residents a safe and comfortable home for life as well as support opportunities for other animals in need to come to live at the sanctuary.I'm asking that you contribute a sum at your discretion instead of spending it on floral tributes for her life celebration service. I think Sandra would very much approve of anything we can do to help an animal in need.
