Story
Thanks for looking at my Justgiving page.
My Mum became homeless in February this year. She spent six weeks in hospital before being moved to a nursing home. After three months she lost her place due to illness and she is currently living in a B&B until we can arrange permanent housing. This is a lot harder than it sounds! She has been in the B&B for six weeks and is hoping to move into her own flat soon.
Since March, our family have been lucky enough to have been helped by BCHA, an organisation dedicated to helping homeless people. Kayla from BCHA has helped my mum with everything from arranging temporary accommodation, applying for council housing, taking her to hospital appointments, applying for grants, explaining the maze of paperwork and bureaucracy and basically being there for my Mum when my sister and I couldn't be. Without Kayla and the help from BCHA, I genuinely don't know what we would have done. I know that my Mum would be on the streets without BCHA.
So this is my first challenge to raise money for BCHA. I can barely run for the bus so doing an inflatable 5k is well beyond anything I've done before. I'm lucky enough to have my brilliant boyfriend running with me but I could do with all the support I can get!
Oh - and for those of you who don't know what an inflatable 5k is, it is a 5k with ten giant inflatable obstacles (and you all know I'm not exactly an athlete) - more info here - https://www.ukrunningevents.co.uk/inflatable-5k-run
