Story
Thanks for clicking on my page!
Step Forward is a charity that is close to my heart. I worked and volunteered for Step Forward for six years as a therapist. The charity works with young people aged 11-25 living around Tower Hamlets. Tower Hamlets has one of the highest child poverty rates in the Uk, add in a high crime rate, drug use and overcrowded housing, it can be a really tough area to grow up in. Running a marathon seems like a walk in the park compared to some of the challenges they face.
The staff and volunteers at Step Forward are all absolute superhero’s. They put their full hearts into providing a range of free services to meet the needs of young people. The service provides counselling, an LGBTQ group, a sexual health clinic, outreach in schools, specialist support for young women who have experienced sexual violence and mentoring support. I know that every young person who walks through that door will be greeted with a smile, warmth and care.
The young people I met at Step Forward were kind, bright, brave and I was so inspired by hearing their stories. Step Forward is a small charity and every penny will be well spent, going directly towards making a difference to a young person’s life.
If you can spare a pound I’d be very grateful!
Cheers, Sarah xx
