Age is the next BIG thing on the inclusion agenda. The number of older people in Scotland will rise by a staggering 79% by 2041 which has HUGE implications for health, care, housing and workplaces too. There's a loneliness epidemic and half the 75+ age group living alone see family members less than once a month. In this context, Age Scotland is gearing up to provide services that will enable older people to lead lives characterised by independence and dignity, bringing transformational change.
Please give generously. And preferably at a level that makes you feel good about the contribution you're making. ENORMOUS gratitude! xx
Monday 2nd July Update: I did it! The scariest part was climbing through the railings at the top and trusting the ropes and harness. The trick was not to overthink it. Once descending, it was fabulous, as were the views. It's said we should do something that scares us every day. I don't know about that but an adrenaline challenge once in a while is certainly to be embraced. Just before my abseil, I watched two ladies in their early 80s climb through the railings and go and I thought, "Respect. If they can do it, so can I." Are you up for it next year? Or Bungee Swing, maybe?
